GAS TANKs for BOBBERS  and OLD SCHOOL CHOPPERS

These are sculptures of forged and welded mild steel that I create to fit and attach to new production gas
tanks.  They are fully functionable as gas tanks for motorcycles. Each piece is a one/off sculpture
handmade by me using hammer and anvil, plus welder and grinder.
Each is a signed piece. For specific info click on each thumbnail.

During the process of creating the Siren Of TI bike, I decided that I wanted to bring another bike to life
but this time not interfere too much with its handling and riding characteristics. I wanted my art to add to
the sense you get when the machine between your legs feels alive....a rip snorting, fire breathing, beast
from the depths of hell.... or a soaring bald eagle, sharp, precise and wild on the wind. I wanted my art to
enhance those experiences of becoming one with the machine. I wanted my art to trumpet the bike's
personality and to reflect the personal experience of the rider.
Motorcycles are sculptures by themselves. They are the vehicles of dreams.  They represent our idea of
freedom and are natural extensions of our individuality. And who at one time or another hasn't seen
themselves spurring one of these celebrated steeds of polished steel down some lonesome endless
highway and slowly disappearing into the sunset?  Motorcycles have become an integral part of our
cultural identity.  In short,  they are mechanical two-wheeled solitary universes that in minutes can
magically transform both one's mind and spirit..... and in that way, I believe, they are living breathing
works of art.
My favorite style of motorcycle is the bobber and old school chopper. I love a bike that looks as though it
has just barely enough parts to run. I also like to see those parts actually working. The mechanics of the
machine is what holds most of the beauty for me. Bobbers especially speak to the ageless adage of form
following function. Simple. Elegant, Functional.
And an old school chopper raked out in radical style with no extra parts beckons for one of these
sculptured tanks to follow its form and put a face on it's wiley spirit.  I'm currently working on a piece
called, Sweet Black Angel  which I'm creating with an old school chop in mind. Sweet.

Stay Tuned....more to come.
